No. 13 Hoyas Host Syracuse and Temple on Opening Weekend

WASHINGTON –  The No. 13 Georgetown University men's soccer team will open up the 2019 season on Friday, Aug. 29 against the Syracuse University Orange at Shaw Field.  The Hoyas will follow that up with a home Labor Day matchup against the Temple University Owls on Monday.  Kickoff against Cuse is scheduled for 4 p.m., while the contest against the Owls is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown was picked to finish first in the BIG EAST Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, GU was awarded 81 points and all nine first place votes
  • The Hoyas are the reigning league champions winning the tournament title in both 2017 and 2018
  • Senior Dylan Nealis was named the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, he was also named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List
  • Nealis was the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year a season ago
  • Junior Derek Dodson was selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year
  • Senior forward Achara earned a spot on the Preseason All-BIG EAST squad along with Nealis and Dodson
