WASHINGTON – Georgetown University volleyball's senior outside hitter
Iva Vujosevic was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Vujosevic led the Hoyas to a 3-0 record and team championship at the 2019 Colonial Classic, hosted by William & Mary. She was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player for her efforts.
Georgetown swept all three opponents in the tournament, earning 3-0 victories over Iona, UNC Greensboro and the host Tribe. In the nine sets over the weekend, Vujosevic averaged 3.33 kills and 3.44 digs per set while adding three assists, three blocks and a BIG EAST-leading six service aces.
Vujosevic opened the weekend with eight kills and 11 digs against Iona before adding 10 kills to go with nine digs against UNCG. In the final match against W&M, she posted her third double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Georgetown returns home once again to host the 2019 Hoya Invitational on the Hilltop next weekend. The Blue & Gray welcomes Binghamton, Florida International and Morgan State to the Nation's Capital on Sept. 20-21. The weekend will also serve as Alumni Weekend for the Hoyas and Georgetown's first NCAA Tournament team from 1998 will be celebrated on Saturday.
