WASHINGTON – The No. 15 Georgetown women's soccer team defeated the Lafayette Leopards 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Shaw Field. The Hoyas scored a goal in the first half and knocked out the rest of them in the second half, despite allowing a late goal from Lafayette. With the win, GU advances to 3-2-1 on the season while the Leopards fall to 2-3-1.
COACH NOLAN ON THE MATCH
We're still trying to figure things out and still trying to get a little bit better each day. The first thing is you have to win, and we had a challenging run of games in this schedule where we played three tough ACC games and two of those were on the road. We needed some games at home where we could play well and win and also get a chance to give some other players on the team playing time. So we were able to do both of those things today, win and give other players minutes.
I thought we played better today than we did against Bucknell last week. I thought there was a lot of positive today. I was disappointed though with the goal we gave up, though. Now we have Princeton on Thursday, who is a very good team and we had a real battle with them last year when we won in overtime on a penalty kick.
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- The Blue & Gray got the scoring started in the 18th minute when junior Kelly Ann Livingstone knocked senior Paula Germino-Watnick's deflected shot into the back of the net.
- In the 50th minute minute, Germino-Watnick tallied her second assist of the day as she took a corner kick and found senior Meaghan Nally inside the box who then headed it in the net making it 2-0.
- Less than 10 minutes after GU's second goal, Germino-Watnick was able to score a goal from the middle of the box; Livingstone and senior Casey Richards got the double assist to connect with Germino-Watnick and take a 3-0 lead.
- With less than two minutes remaining, the Leopards got on the board with a goal from inside the box.
- The Hoyas responded in the final minute with its fourth and final goal from sophomore Boo Jackson off of her own corner kick; her shot from the right corner was able to dodge all the defenders and make its way straight into the back of the net.
OF NOTE
	- Germino-Watnick led both teams with four points off of a goal and two assists.
- The Hoyas outshot the Leopards 24-6, allowing them to take just two shots in the first half; Georgetown also took 17 corner kicks to Lafayette's one.
- Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Navarrete managed three saves in the net and Lafayette made seven
