WASHINGTON – Behind five in double figures and led by
Omer Yurtseven with his ninth double-double of the season, the Georgetown University men's basketball team took down the No. 25/RV Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 12-6 on the year with a 2-3 mark in BIG EAST play. The 25th-ranked Bluejays slip to 13-5 overall and own a 2-3 record in league action.
ON THE RECORD
"This was a great team win. Jamorko played his butt off. Both he and Jagan. Jamorko - he got maybe a minute or two of rest, Jagan played the whole game. Jamorko only scored nine points but I thought he was effective defensively. He had six rebounds, he probably could have had more but you know, I'll take the six, I'll take the W." - Head Coach
Patrick Ewing
"I gotta do my role, I gotta do my part and trust my teammates to do theirs. Terrell and Mac - they did a huge job … they had a big impact on the game. Jagan defended 40 minutes non stop so that was really big on his part." -
Omer Yurtseven
"Today, I think we were up nine and they went on an 8-0 run, but we didn't break after that. We kinda came together and closed the game out." -
Jagan Mosely

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a back-and-forth game to start with neither team taking more than a three-point advantage within the first four minutes of play. Six unanswered points from a Yurtseven jumper and a pair of Jamorko Pickett layups pushed the Hoyas ahead 13-8.
- Despite the early advantage, Creighton pulled back into the game and took a 20-16 lead before the Blue & Gray staged an 8-2 run, capped by an emphatic Yurtseven dunk, to lead 24-22.
- The game would be tied twice more in the half before a Jahvon Blair layup pulled the Hoyas within one, 37-36, at the break.
- The Hoyas tied the game early in the second half but slipped behind by as many as five, 45-40, before the Blue & Gray strung together nine unanswered fueled by the guards as McClung (4), Allen (3) and Mosely (2) all contributed to the effort.
- Creighton pulled back to within one (56-55), but a 7-2 GU run, capped by a conventional three-point play by Blair, extended the lead back to 63-57.
- A Mosely 3-pointer and consecutive buckets by Yurtseven gave the Blue & Gray its biggest lead of the game (70-61).
- McClung and Mosely hit their free throws down the stretch as Georgetown held on for the 83-80 victory.
OF NOTE
- This was the fourth win over an opponent ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 under Head Coach Patrick Ewing.
