WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's tennis team falls to 0-2 on the season after a 7-0 loss at Liberty (2-1) on Saturday evening.
The Hoyas came up short during doubles play, giving the Flames a 1-0 lead going into singles competition. GU freshman Olivia Ashton forced a decisive third set against Esther Lovato but dropped the final set and lost 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Senior Anna Short had a tough outing falling 7-5, 6-4 to Micaela Ode Mitre. Freshman Carmen Aizpurua went back and forth with Eloise Saraty in the first set before going down in the second set 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.
The Hoyas will travel to West Point, New York to take on Army on Saturday, Feb. 1. GU will then battle BIG EAST foe Seton Hall on Sunday, Feb. 2.
