Hoyas Set to Host No. 16/17 Butler Tuesday Night

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team returns home to Capital One Arena on Tuesday night to host No. 16/17 Butler. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. The Blue & Gray comes in at 12-8 overall on the year and 2-5 in the BIG EAST.
 
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
  • Tuesday's game will be broadcast on CBSSN with Andrew Catalon calling the play-by-play, Steve Lappas providing analysis and Sherree Burruss reporting from the sideline.
  • The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin in his 46th season on the call.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Georgetown dropped a 66-57 decision to Xavier on Wednesday night in a BIG EAST matchup at Cintas Center.
  • Mac McClung was the lone Hoya in double figures, leading all players with 19 points, including a perfect 7-for-7 effort from the charity stripe.
  • Qudus Wahab, Terrell Allen and Jahvon Blair chipped in nine, eight and seven points, respectively.
  • Jamorko Pickett's 10 boards led the squad while Wahab grabbed eight boards and Jagan Mosely tied a career high with seven.
  • Mosely led the offense with four assists while Allen added three.
  • The Hoyas shot 36.8 percent (21-57) for the game while holding the Musketeers to a 37.3 performance (25-67) from the floor.
 
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas rank second in the BIG EAST in scoring (77.9 ppg) and average 82.2 ppg at Capital One Arena this season, scoring at least 80 points in their last five home games.
  • McClung leads the Hoyas in scoring at 16.6 ppg, and has scored at least 19 points in five of the six conference games he has played. Omer Yurtseven is second on the team with 16.4 ppg and leads the squad with 9.6 rpg.
  • Blair is among Georgetown's career top 25 in 3-pointers made as his 112 career treys is 20th all-time. Mosely has 304 career assists, which is 19th on GU's career list and just three away from tying Allen Iverson (307).
 
SCOUTING BUTLER
  • Butler enters Tuesday with a 16-4 record and a 4-3 mark in BIG EAST play after snapping a three-game losing streak with an 89-85 overtime victory over Marquette.
  • The Bulldogs average 69.3 ppg and lead the BIG EAST with a 46.6 team shooting percentage. They allow just 59.4 ppg and a 37.0 opponent shooting percentage to lead the conference.
  • Kamar Baldwin leads Butler with 16.2 ppg and Sean McDermott is in double figures at 11.3 ppg.
  • Bryce Nze is grabbing a team-high 7.0 rpg and Aaron Thompson is averaging 5.1 apg.
 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Tuesday will be the 15th all-time meeting between the Hoyas and Bulldogs, with all but one coming since Butler joined the BIG EAST Conference prior to the 2013-14 season. Georgetown holds an 8-6 advantage in the series.
  • Last season, the squads split the season series with both teams winning by narrow margins on the road.
  • In GU's 84-76 win in Indianapolis, Greg Malinowski scored a season-high 26 points, including six 3-pointers. 
  • In a 73-69 setback at Capital One Arena, Mac McClung scored a game-high 21 points and Jamorko Pickett finished with 18.
  • Patrick Ewing is 2-2 in his coaching career against the Bulldogs.

  • Head Coach Patrick Ewing is 4-2 in his last six outings against teams ranked among the Associated Press Top 25. With Ewing at the helm, Georgetown has wins against No. 25 Creighton (01/15/20), vs. No. 22 Texas (11/21/19), at No. 16 Marquette (03/09/19) and No. 17 Villanova (02/20/19) while falling at No. 16 Villanova (01/11/20) and vs. No. 1 Duke (11/22/19). He owns an even 1-1 record vs. teams ranked No 16 in the AP Poll.
 
COMING UP NEXT
Following Tuesday's game, the Hoyas will make the trip to Madison Square Garden for a matchup against St. John's on Sunday afternoon. The game will be broadcast on CBS and tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Fans can listen locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin on the call.
