WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team (0-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) will open the 2020-21 season at No. 24/23 DePaul University (3-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) in a Saturday afternoon BIG EAST Conference matchup. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Matt Schumacker and Patricia Babcock McGraw calling the action. The opening tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
About the Hoyas
- The Hoyas will face DePaul in their first game of the 2020-21 season after pausing the start of the season due to a positive COVID-19 test on November 27.
- Georgetown has been back on campus since August when the men's and women's basketball teams were allowed back to train.
- The Hoyas will be without three players who chose to opt out due to COVID-19 concerns. Additionally, graduate student Anita Kelava is still working on her visa to return to the United States so she can rejoin the squad.
- Transfer Jillian Archer will be available this season after sitting out last year due to NCAA transfer rules. Also, graduate student Taylor Baur will be eligible immediately after coming to the Hilltop from Princeton. Rounding out the transfers is Taylia Stimpson who spent a season in junior college at Southern Idaho.
- The Hoyas will welcome four newcomers to the roster this season. The four freshman are all guards joining sophomore Stimpson as GU will have a young backourt.
About the Blue Demons
- The Blue Demons are coming off of a big 86-82 win over No. 9/9 Kentucky on Wednesday evening.
- Five players averaging in double figures for DePaul as Sonya Morris leads the way with 19.8 ppg.
- This will be the first BIG EAST contest for the Blue Demons after playing five nonconference games including three against ranked opponents.

- The Hoyas are 3-23 all-time against the Blue Demons and 2-11 on the road.
- Last year Georgetown lost both meetings with the Blue Demons falling 92-66 in Chicago
- GU has only defeated DePaul twice on the road with the last coming in 2018 as an 86-85 victory for the Blue & Gray.

- New for 2020-21, the BIG EAST Conference has announced a one-year deal with leading sports streaming service, FloSports, to become the digital home of BIG EAST women's basketball, bringing elite collegiate competition to a global audience. The agreement provides a platform for all women's basketball games that stream on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) presented by SoFi.
Schedule Notes
- Georgetown's game scheduled for December 22 against Seton Hall has been postponed due to a recent positive COVID-19 test within the Pirate program. No makeup date has been announced at this time.
- The BIG EAST Conference released the second half of its women's basketball schedule on Friday. The Blue & Gray's first game after break will be a home contest against Butler on December 31 at 2 p.m.
