WASHINGTON – The 2020 Georgetown Summer Soccer Camps opened registration this week. Two sessions led by the reigning national champions will be held on Georgetown's campus. The 2020 Blue and Gray Soccer Camp is scheduled for July 12-14, 2020 for rising 9th-12th grade boys, while the new Hoya Lessons Camp will be July 15-17, 2020 for rising 7th-8th grade boys.
The goal at the Georgetown University Soccer Summer Camp is to provide a fun and competitive environment for each player to develop their technical skills and to apply those skills to game situations. The coaches believe that the game is the best teacher, so campers are exposed to small- and full-sided games every day. The hope is that each camper will leave camp having learned new skills and how to apply those skills in exciting and challenging game situations.
The Georgetown University Soccer Summer Camp will provide excellent facilities and a highly capable and enthusiastic staff. Competing against highly talented players from around the country will provide the campers an ideal environment to showcase their talents.
Facilities
The camp sessions will be held on the Georgetown University campus. Residential campers will stay adjacent to the training facility in Georgetown dormitories equipped with air conditioning and all campers will eat in the university cafeteria, O'Donovan Hall. Campers will utilize the same facilities the Georgetown team uses during the school year, including the state-of-the-art Cooper Field.
The Program and Schedule
This camp is designed to attract top-level, serious players interested in playing Division I soccer. It will feature the Georgetown soccer coaching staff who have experience in every level of college soccer. The coaches will provide exceptional training to help prepare campers for college soccer.
There is limited space in each camp to ensure personalized attention to each camper. Every player will be exposed to tactical and technical training, small-sided (7v7, 8v8) and 11v11 games. During every session campers will be immersed in the attacking and defending concepts used in the Georgetown system. There will also be goalkeeper specific sessions during the tactical and technical sessions for field players.
