Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hoyas Fall 74-68 at DePaul

CHICAGO – CHICAGO – The Georgetown men's basketball team fell to DePaul 74-68 on Saturday night in a BIG EAST Conference game at Wintrust Arena. With the setback, the Hoyas drop to 15-12 with a 5-9 record in BIG EAST action. The Blue Demons improve to 14-13 with a 2-12 mark in league play.

ON THE RECORD
"I think they were more ready for us. They were ready for us then, but they were more ready for us today. Also, Jamorko Pickett wasn't really able to play in the second half - I think he only played seven minutes of the second half because he started cramping up … we couldn't make shots." - Head Coach Patrick Ewing on the differences between the two regular season games against DePaul

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS

  • Terrell Allen led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting alongside a perfect 6-for-6 performance from the charity stripe.
  • Jamorko Pickett finished with 19 points and seven rebounds.
  • Jagan Mosely rounded out those in double figures with 13 points, including hitting all six free throw attempts.
  • Omer Yurtseven and Allen led the Hoyas on the glass with eight boards apiece.
  • The Hoyas shot 36.8 (21-57) percent from the floor, while hitting 88.0 (22-25) percent of their free throws.
  • Georgetown outrebounded DePaul 39-37.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trailing 12-7 as DePaul started the game red hot from the field, Georgetown put together eight unanswered sparked by a Qudus Wahab bucket and anchored by free throws from Pickett and Yurtseven to pull ahead 15-12.
  • A game of runs, DePaul led by as many as five (20-15) before the Hoyas put together another eight straight, a quartet from the charity stripe sandwiched between Allen and Pickett buckets, to take the 23-20 advantage.
  • Down 33-28 with 2:12 remaining in the half, Georgetown went into the break on an 8-3 run as Jamorko's last-second jumper went in to knot the game at 36.
  • DePaul pulled ahead in the second but the Hoyas kept it close with the longball as triples from Allen and Mosely tied the game up at 42. Blair found the bottom of the net from distance for the 45-44 advantage.
  • Georgetown managed an 8-2 run to tie the game at 55 with all eight points contributed by the guard trio of Mosely, Blair and Allen.
  • DePaul answered with a 9-2 run of its own to go back ahead 64-57.
  • A layup and three free throws from Allen cut it to a three-point game (69-66), but that is as close as the Hoyas could get.

OF NOTE
  • Mosely's two assists give him 328 for his career, surpassing Reggie Williams (327) and into 14th place all-time at Georgetown.
  • Blair's 3-pointer gives him 130 for his career, which is good for 14th place on GU's career list.
