WASHINGTON – The No. 19/19 Georgetown University women's lacrosse team used a huge first-half effort to defeat the Saint Joseph's University Hawks 19-5 Saturday afternoon in both teams' season opener at Cooper Field. The Blue & Gray scored 15 first-half goals to take a commanding lead and never looked back. With the win, GU is 1-0 on the season, while the Hawks start out with a mark of 0-1.

How it Happened
- Less than two minutes into the contest, senior captain Michaela Bruno put the Hoyas on the board with an unassisted tally.
- This was followed by a pair of free position goals from sophomore Ali Diamond and senior captain Natalia Lynch before the Hawks found the back of the cage.
- Another unassisted tally from Bruno sparked a 5-0 run as junior Cameron McGee scored on the ensuing draw control, and GU saw scores from junior Caroline Frock, senior Katie Hudson and sophomore Jordyn Sabourin. All three used crafty moves to evade the defense for unassisted tallies.
- Following a Hawk goal midway through the half, the Hoyas answered with seven goals of the next 15 minutes sparked by McGee's second of the afternoon coming off of the ride.
- In the first half, both McGee and Bruno would manage hat tricks.
- Lynch completed the scoring with her second goal of the game on a spin move at the 2:17 mark as GU went into the half leading 15-2.
- Lynch added the hat trick to begin the second half as she scored going to her right in the opening minute of play.
- The Hawks managed a trio of goals in the second half, but GU matched.
- Bruno tallied her fourth on a free position, and Frock pushed through the defense to score at 20:13.
- The Hoyas' final score was a goal by junior Mary Pagano at 7:42
- SJU would score late making the final 19-5.
Of Note
- Bruno led the way with four goals, while Lynch managed three as well as an assist and nine draw controls.
- McGee tallied the hat trick to go along with two goals and an assist by Diamond as well as a pair of scores from Frock.
- Senior Emily Ehle had a goal and a squad-best two assists in the game.
- Georgetown outshot St. Joseph's 29-14, and pulled in 18 draw controls to SJU's six.
- GU forced 19 turnovers while committing 16.
- In the cage, senior Micheline DiNardo picked up the win with two saves on the afternoon.
- Also on the defensive end, junior Wynne Whitley tallied four caused turnovers for the game.
