PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Georgetown University baseball team opened its Spring Break trip with an 11-2 setback to UIC as part of the Snowbird Baseball Classic at North Charlotte Regional Park. With the loss, the Hoyas slip to 3-10, while the Flames improve to 2-11.
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Carter Bosch started on the mound and went 5.1 innings, allowing five runs with just one earned. He only gave up two hits while striking out eight.
- Eddie McCabe and Nolan Matsko led the GU offense with a pair of hits each as Georgetown outhit UIC 7-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas got on the board first in the top of the second inning. Ryan M. Davis led off with a single and stole second before scoring on a triple by Matsko down the right field line.
- UIC tied the game in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Flames added an unearned run in the fifth and scored four runs in the sixth to open up a 6-1 lead.
- Georgetown got a run back in the top of the eighth as Freddy Achecar III lined an RBI double down the left field line to score AJ Lotsis and make it 6-2.
- UIC answered with five more runs in the bottom of the eighth to provide the final score.
