WASHINGTON – Despite a big second-half effort, the Georgetown University men's basketball team fell just short against the No. 14/12 Villanova Wildcats in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Sunday afternoon at Capital One Arena. The tough 70-69 decision drops the Hoyas to 15-16 overall and 5-13 in league play. The Wildcats improve to 24-7 on the year and 13-5 in conference action.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Jamorko Pickett led the Hoyas with 20 points marking first 20-point effort of the season.
- Terrell Allen managed 17 points along with a squad-best four assists, and Jagan Mosely rounded out those in double figures with 13 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds.
- Qudus Wahab scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds to tie Mosely.
- Georgetown shot 46.0 (27-59) percent from the field and had 12 assists on 27 made field goals.
- The Blue & Gray outrebounded the Wildcats 31-30.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas slipped behind early but five-straight points behind a Pickett 3-pointer and a Mosely layup off the Pickett dish forced a Villanova timeout with 12:13 on the clock.
- Trailing by 16, the Blue & Gray tallied six unanswered as Pickett, Blair and Wahab all found the bottom of the net prompting another Wildcat timeout. Out of the huddle, Blair drained a triple to extend the run to nine and cut the deficit to seven (28-21).
- GU cut the gap to six following back-to-back field goals from Pickett and Allen with 3:12 remaining. Trading buckets through the frame, Pickett closed the half on a triple as Georgetown trailed 39-30 going into the break.
- Coming out of the locker room, the Hoyas scored 11 unanswered, rendering the 'Cats scoreless for the first three minutes and taking their first lead of the game 41-39.
- With VU up six, Georgetown came roaring back, staging a 10-2 run over nearly three minutes of action fueled by eight points from Mosely, to take a 58-56 lead with 7:35 to play.
- Georgetown strung together seven straight behind Allen's traditional three-point play, an emphatic dunk from Wahab and a pair of free throws from Pickett for the four-point advantage (65-61) and igniting the crowd once again.
- With the Hoyas up 69-67 and 5.6 seconds left to play, the Wildcats were awarded a three-point play. Georgetown's final effort fell short providing the 70-69 score at the final whistle.
OF NOTE
- Mosely's three assists give him 348 for his career, putting him 14th all-time at Georgetown.
- Blair's 3-pointer gives him 142 for his career, which is good for 12th place on GU's career list.
COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will travel to New York City for the 2020 BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden. Seedings and matchups will be determined at the conclusion of Saturday's slate of conference games.
