Johnson Selected to 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University senior quarterback Gunther Johnson has been selected to the 2020 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, as announced on Wednesday. Johnson was one of 18 student-athletes from the Patriot League to earn the prestigious academic honor  
 
An impressive 1,451 players from 365 schools across all divisions of play qualified for membership in the society's 14th year. To be eligible a student-athlete must be a starter or significant contributor with a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average (GPA) or better through their final year of eligibility.
 
GUNTHER JOHNSON
  • Johnson, a government major, is set to graduate in May from the College and was a 2019 team captain.
  • He was a three-time selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and was twice named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
  • Johnson played in all 11 games as a senior, completing 124-of-208 passes for a 59.6 completion percentage and 1,550 yards.
  • His 12 touchdown passes are tied for the 10th most in Georgetown history.
  • Johnson graduates from the Hilltop among GU's career leaders in rushing touchdowns (14; 9th), total yards (4,961; 3rd), pass attempts (698; 3rd), completions (371; 3rd), passing yards (4,272; 5th) and passing touchdowns (24; 7th).
 
2019 RECAP
Georgetown wrapped up the 2019 season with a 5-6 overall record, and a 1-5 mark in the Patriot League. The Hoyas have signed a total of 28 newcomers to join the squad this fall as members of the Georgetown Class of 2024. Head Coach Rob Sgarlata released the 2020 schedule earlier this month.
