Men's Rowing

2020 Men's Rowing Senior Tribute - G150

Blake Chapman
Blake joined the team as a junior transfer and brought his team skills from lacrosse to bear on the G150s. Ever reliable - and some would say disturbingly fast on the erg - he always put the team first and set an excellent example for the younger guys. Blake is earning a BA in government and will be attending Naval Officer Candidate School next year (we can't think of a better future Naval Officer). Congratulations Blake!

Harry Sardinia
Harry Sardinia had one of the more circuitous rowing careers we've ever seen. A "locker-room guy", Harry spent approximately two full years on the bike grinding away and waiting for his wrists to heal from breaks and surgeries. His junior year he won the Athletic Department's Courage Award, given to a student athlete who exhibited perseverance and strength in the face of adversity, challenges, and/or setbacks. It was in his senior year, after a semester in Africa, that Harry started crushing it in seat racing and showing what we knew all the while - that he was a not only a great process guy but a stud on the water too. Harry is earning a BA in global health and will be working at his family restaurant (Carte Blanche) next year before getting involved with Health Industry work. Congratulations Harry!

Hannah Elwell
Hannah is a force of nature. She combined an insatiable work ethic with strong personality to great effect on the water, leading her boats to notable victories over her four years - most notably the 2V's win over Princeton in 2019. Hannah is known to take the most aggressive lines on the river, and we are sure she would have scared the hell out of whichever Harvard cox lined up next to her this season. Hannah is earning a degree in neurobiology with a minor in science, technology and international affairs and is in the process of applying to medical school. Congratulations Hannah!

Olivier Malle
Olivier Malle's dedication to the G150s cannot be overstated. This year's co-captain, Olivier set the best possible example for his teammates and became a weapon himself. A four year varsity rower, Olivier's notable races include winning the Head of the Charles in 2018, beating undefeated Cornell to advance to the Eastern Sprints A final in 2019, winning the lightweight 4 at [Rogue] IRAs in 2018, beating Harvard in the IRA B Final Duel in 2019 and winning the Varsity 4 at the Head of the Occoquan 2019 without a skeg. Olivier carried himself with confidence and poured his heart into this team and his leadership will echo through the next generation of rowers at Georgetown. Olivier is earning a degree in political economy and will be working at Bain in the fall. Congratulations Olivier!

John Dolan
John Dolan is an experienced rower the G150s are proud to have rowed with for four years. He has battled injury and setback but always found that his love of the sport and for his teammates drew him back to the water. His boat-moving ability and smooth stroke had him racing in the varsity boat, and in his last years his knowledge and experience buoyed every boat he was in. He also has a truly keen eye for video and has taken incredible drone footage of the team on our trips! John earns his BS in Finance and OPIM, he'll be starting at Accenture as an Incoming Management Consulting Analyst. Congrats John!

Ryan Zuccala
Ryan "Ricky" Zuccala is a true talent in the 9th seat and an excellent leader to boot. Elected co-captain for his senior year, Ryan made an impression on his fellow rowers as a leader who wanted to push the team forward, something he'd been doing since he arrived on campus. As a freshman, Ryan beat out three senior coxswains to take a lightweight varsity 4 to the Head of the Charles, earning a 4th place finish. He returned three times more, winning the event in 2018 for the first time in Georgetown history. He also raced as the Varsity 8 Coxswain in every Eastern Sprints and IRA during his time here. He is known for his strong opinions and winning smile, both of which will surely help him at Capital One next year, after earning his BBA with a double major in accounting and finance. Congrats Ryan!

Reid Noch
Reid Noch has just about the greatest power (and will-power) to weight ratio of anyone we've seen. In his four years at Georgetown, starting as a novice, he's set just about every erg record the team has. Reid even won the coveted Hammer for winning the lightweight category at CRASH-B erg sprints in 2019. Reid's unbridled enthusiasm has been a constant on the G150s his entire time here and everyone has just had to deal with it. He's a guy who would do anything for a teammate or friend at the drop of a hat, and would do it with a smile on his face to boot. His development has been a joy to watch over the last four years, and he's made great strides in putting all his power down into moving a boat. Notable races include beating Princeton in the 2V in 2019, beating Harvard in the 1V at IRAs 2019, and winning his first seatrace at a 26 back in 2017. Reid is exploring continuing his education at Georgetown in the form of a Master’s program in 2020. Congrats Reid!

Shanlyn Tse
Shanlyn has been a guardian angel for the G150s. She joined us in her sophomore year as a novice and immediately turned heads with her aggressive coxing at the Head of the Occoquan. She always has a smile on her face and has the most infectious laugh you'll ever hear. Shanlyn has a love for wildlife and for good friends, the latter of which she seems to attract in spades. Shanlyn's most notable race has to be winning the Varsity 4 at the Head of the Occoquan this past fall. She earns a degree in sociology and was planning to travel after graduation. Hopefully she’ll still be able to do so this fall. Congrats Shanlyn!

Tommy Ruggles
Tommy Ruggles is our most handsome senior. He is also a perennial varsity rower, beginning his freshman fall and despite injuries and the occasional freak shoulder displacement he has remained steadfast and aggressive in his contributions to boatspeed. Tommy is known for his jovial personality and the strong bonds of friendship he has for the rest of his teammates. His notable races include a 4th place at the Head of the Charles in 2016, beating Princeton and Delaware in the 2V in 2019, and setting himself up as a dominant force again in our straight 4s matrix down in Florida this year. Tommy earns a double major in economics and psychology and will be working at Capital One next year. Congrats Tommy!
Lee Rumpf, Varsity Lightweight Coach
Thomas Dameris
Thomas Dameris is a fierce four-year man who has really come into his own here at Georgetown. Thomas has always brought an edge to his rowing and his teammates always know he'll give everything every day. Thomas has shown an immense amount of personal development while at Georgetown and we are proud to have had him with us these four years. He is well known for his sense of humor and has taken it upon himself to craft successful promotional videos for the team particularly after long trips. He will be earning a BS in psychology and is working on his portfolio to go to design school. Congrats Thomas!
