WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Providence for a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m. It will be GU's first contest in three weeks following a pause due to COVID-19 protocols.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Last time out, Georgetown fought to make it a one-possession game late in the second half, but ultimately fell 74-69 at Syracuse on Saturday night.
- Jamorko Pickett led the Hoyas with 17 points and tied for game-high honors with nine rebounds. He also added a trio of blocks.
- Jahvon Blair recorded his first career double-double with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, and a career-best 10 assists.
- Donald Carey rounded out those in double figures, finishing with 10 points, including a pair from beyond the arc.
- Qudus Wahab and Chudier Bile each contributed nine points.
- The Hoyas handed out a season-high 18 assists.
- Blair leads the team in scoring with 18.0 ppg, tying for third in the BIG EAST. He is tied for first in 3-pointers per game (2.9) and second in free throw percentage (85.0).
- Wahab (12.0 ppg) and Pickett (11.5 ppg) are also in double figures, while Pickett (8.7 rpg) leads the league in rebounding and Wahab (8.1 rpg) is third as well as third in blocks (2.5 bpg).
- As a team, Georgetown tops the BIG EAST in rebounding (42.5 rpg).
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
- Providence comes in with an 9-7 record overall, and are 5-5 in BIG EAST play after defeating Marquette in overtime on Wednesday night.
- The Friars are scoring 72.9 ppg, while allowing 71.1 ppg to opponents. They are shooting 44.2, and opponents are also hitting 44.2 percent from the floor.
- David Duke (19.5 ppg) is second in the BIG EAST in scoring, while Nate Watson (18.0 ppg) is tied for third. Watson is pulling down a team-high 6.8 rpg.
- Duke is second in the league with 4.8 apg, while Watson is shooting 62.0 percent from the floor to also rank second.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
- Saturday will be the 77th all-time meeting between Georgetown and Providence. The Hoyas hold a 46-30 series advantage, including a 24-9 mark in Washington, D.C.
- The Friars swept the two games last season, defeating the Hoyas 76-60 in Providence on New Year's Eve before taking the matchup at Capital One Arena, 73-63.
- Blair is averaging 6.8 ppg in six career games against Providence, including a 20-point performance in last year's home game. Pickett is scoring 9.7 ppg and grabbing 5.3 rpg in his career against the Friars.
- Head Coach Patrick Ewing is 2-4 against Providence as GU's head coach and went 9-1 against the Friars as a player.
