About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is 7-0 to start the 2021 season and is coming off of a solid 3-0 victory against Dartmouth last Saturday to conclude nonconference play.
  • The Hoyas got on the board early as sophomore Chris Hegardt hit a restart to the back post finding the head of junior Daniel Wu. The defender sent it across and classmate Dante Polvara got a foot on it to send it in and make it 1-0 in the 10th minute.
  • Just two minutes later, Wu got it started again as he sent a long ball into the path of a sprinting Zach Riviere who took a touch and shot it past Big Green keeper Alex Budnik to make it 2-0.
  • The third goal of a match came off of an impressive combination as senior Zach Riviere tapped it to junior Will Sands on the left side. He served it in to the back post and senior captain Sean Zawadzki got an outstretched foot on it to make it 3-0 in the 62nd minute.
  • For his efforts, Wu was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after notching two assists.
  • Zawadzki was named one of just 30 NCAA Division I men's soccer candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, recognizing student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be athletically classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2021 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships in December. The Hoyas had a winner last season as Jacob Montes earned Second Team Senior CLASS All-America honors.
About the Blue Demons
  • DePaul (5-3-0, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) enters Saturday's match after dropping a road affair with Northwestern, 2-0.
  • The Blue Demons claimed a 2-1 win over UConn in the BIG EAST opener last weekend behind goals by Nathaniel Enriquez and Marek Gonda. The scoreless output on Wednesday was just the second time the Blue Demons have been shut out all season.
  • The Blue Demons are 2-1 on the road this season after trips to Madison, Wisconsin and Peoria, Illinois both ended in victories earlier this fall. The Blue Demons' 2-0 loss at Northwestern was their first road defeat of the season.
Series Info
  • Georgetown is 8-1-2 all-time against DePaul and 4-1-1 at Shaw Field.
  • The last meeting was a scoreless tie at Wish Field in 2019.
  • The last meeting in The District was a 2-1 overtime victory in 2018 as Achara scored the game winner in the 95th minute of action.
Ticket Information
  • Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Georgetown students, faculty and staff will be admitted to all men's soccer matches for free by showing their Georgetown ID.
