WASHINGTON – Fresh off its first BIG EAST win of the season, the Georgetown University volleyball team hits the road for a pair of league contests at Xavier and Butler this weekend. The Hoyas look to avenge earlier season losses to the pair as they take on the Musketeers in Cincinnati on Friday at 6 p.m. before heading up to Indianapolis to battle the Bulldogs on Saturday at 4 p.m.

About the Hoyas
- Georgetown is 5-12 on the season and 1-5 in league play after defeating UConn 3-1 over the weekend.
- Peyton Wilhite was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll for her efforts, leading the Hoyas with 3.71 kills and 3.14 digs per set on the week.
- Giselle Williams leads the Hoyas with 2.96 kills per set while Mary Grace Goyena adds 2.75 kills per set. The duo is the only pair of Hoyas with at least two kills a frame.
- Lilly Costigan and Emma Plutnicki have split setting duties throughout the season and both have impressed. Costigan averages 8.41 assists per set on the year and Plutnicki has also been solid with 7.64 aps.
- The Hoyas boast a strong presence at the net, as Chanelle Smith averages 1.21 blocks per set while Makayla Serrett adds 0.98 bps and Brennan Wilhite is also just shy of one rejection a frame at 0.89 bps.
- Jessica Cusi anchors the back row as one of six Hoyas averaging at least two digs a frame with 4.54 a set. She became just the 11th player in program history with 1,000 digs after collecting 23 in the win against UConn. Elissa Barbosa adds 2.60 dps, Plutnicki chips in 2.38 dps, Makana Meyer is good for 2.23 dps and Kelly Chen chimes in with 2.16 dps and Williams averages 2.10 dps.
Scouting Xavier
- The Musketeers are 9-7 overall and 4-2 in BIG EAST play.
- Last time against the Hoyas, Xavier outlasted Georgetown 3-2 in a five-set thriller.
- Four XU players average at least two kills a frame, led by Emma Grace with 2.55 kills a set. Kelly Franxman adds 2.53, Delaney Hogan chimes in with 2.46 and Moriah Hopkins is good for 2.07 a frame.
- Carrigan O'Reilly paces the offense with 9.52 assists per set.
- Defensively, seven Musketeers average at least two digs a set with Stevie Wolf and Grace as the only two above three a frame at 3.76 and 3.35 dps, respectively.
- Ellie Chaffee and Hogan are the top threats at the net with 0.97 and 0.90 blocks per set, respectively.
Scouting Butler
- The Bulldogs are 9-10 overall and 3-3 in BIG EAST play.
- Butler hosts Villanova on Friday night before welcoming the Hoyas to Indy on Saturday.
- The Bulldogs defeated Georgetown 3-1 in the Nation's Capital on October 1.
- Melody Davidson leads Butler with 4.28 kills per set while Mariah Grunze adds 3.02 kps.
- Madison Friebel quarterbacks the offense and averages 9.81 assists per set.
- Defensively, Jaymeson Kinley's impressive 5.38 digs per set paces the Bulldogs while four other Butler players chip in at least two digs a stanza.
- Davidson and Amina Shackelford are the top threats at the net with 0.97 and 0.79 blocks per set, respectively.

Following the weekend's action, the Hoyas remain on the road for a pair of BIG EAST matches at Creighton on Friday, October 22 and at Providence on Sunday, October 24.
