Georgetown Falls Short Against Holy Cross in First Road Patriot League Contest

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team dropped its first Patriot League road game of the year on Saturday afternoon, falling 48-14 to the Holy Cross Crusaders in Worcester, Mass. With the loss, the Hoyas slip to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in league play, while the Crusaders improve to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League.

  • Holy Cross jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
  • The Raiders extended the lead to 28 in the second quarter off of two offensive touchdowns and a pick six.
  • The third quarter saw a scoring drive from the Blue & Gray as Holley completed a 58-yard pass to Tomas all the way down to the one-yard line. Stakely carried the ball in from the 1-yard line to get the Hoyas on the board (35-7).
  • Holy Cross scored two touchdowns in the quarter including a long run from Matthew Sluka to put the score at 41-7.
  • Early in the fourth quarter Holy Cross scored on a one-yard rush to go up 48-7.
  • Georgetown wasn't done, however, as Zaire Webb ran into the end zone from the one-yard line to make it 48-14 which would remain until the final whistle.
