WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team returned to its winning ways and collected its first BIG EAST victory of the season with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 29-27) win over visiting UConn on Saturday night. The Hoyas improve to 5-12 overall and 1-5 in league play while the Huskies fall to 12-6 overall and 4-2 in conference action.
                                                                                                                                         
"This win definitely feels like a reward for all the hard work that this team has put in," Head Coach 
David Heller said. "We've had so many close calls and it really is a testament about all the hard work this team puts in every day – they don't take a practice off, they don't take a match off. Tonight felt really great to close it out and beat a really solid conference opponent."
 
Hoya Highlights
	- Georgetown earned its first victory in just shy of a month, snapping a nine-match losing streak.
- Senior libero Jessica Cusi collected 23 digs on the night, making her just the 11th Hoya in program history to reach 1,000 career digs. She is the first Georgetown player to achieve the feat since Kenzie Higareda (C'19) did so in 2016.
- Peyton Wilhite led the Hoyas with 15 kills and added 17 digs for a double-double while Giselle Williams had 11 kills and 18 digs for a double-double as well.
- Mary Grace Goyena added nine kill and both Brennan Wilhite and Makayla Serrett added eight kills each.
- Emma Plutnicki returned to take over setting duties and did not disappoint. She also had a double-double with 43 assists and 13 digs while adding five kills and a pair of service aces.
- Georgetown had nine aces on the night, led by Kelly Chen with three while Williams and Karis Park both notched a pair.
- Defensively, Elissa Barbosa was the fifth Hoya with double-digit digs with 12.
- At the net, Brennan Wilhite led Georgetown with six blocks in the win.
UConn Notes
	- Kennadie Jake-Turner led the Huskies with 15 kills and four service aces while Jasmine Davis (11 kills, 11 digs) and Caylee Parker (10 kills, 11 digs) both had double-doubles in the loss.
- Madi Whitmore had a double-double as well, pacing the offense with 42 assists and adding 18 digs.
- Defensively, Karly Berkland tallied 28 digs to lead all players and both Allie Garland and Taylor Pannell were credited with six blocks on the night.
Side Out
The Hoyas now embark on a four-match road trek and don't return to play in the Nation's Capital until October 29.
