Women’s Basketball Welcomes Loyola Maryland on Wednesday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the Loyola Maryland University Greyhounds in a nonconference matchup on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at McDonough Arena.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is coming off of a tough 66-56 double-overtime loss to Columbia on Sunday evening at McDonough Arena.
  • Graduate student Milan Bolden-Morris led the way with 14 points, while senior Jillian Archer posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
  • Junior Graceann Bennett and sophomore Kelsey Ransom closed out those in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. 
  • The Hoyas shot 35.6 percent (21-59) and allowed 36.9 percent (24-65) shooting by the Lions.
  • The teams tied on the glass with 44 rebounds apiece, and GU had 22 turnovers to the Lions' 21.
  • It marked the first double overtime contest GU had played since January 8, 2011 at Marquette.

  • A last-second shot helped Hofstra overcome a fourth-quarter rally by Loyola to give the Greyhounds a tough 55-53 defeat on Saturday.
  • Lex Therien received her first-career Patriot League weekly award on Monday for her efforts after averaging 12.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game during a 1-1 week for the Greyhounds.
  • For the year, Therien leads the Patriot League in total rebounds (47) and she is third in rebounds per game. One of two players in the conference with multiple double-doubles, Therien is also second in the Patriot League in steals (11).
  • Loyola was selected ninth in the Patriot League Preseason Coaches Poll.
Series History
  • The Hoyas are 12-3 all-time against the Greyhounds.
  • The last meeting was a 43-30 Hoya win at McDonough Arena during the 2018-19 campaign.
  • With a number of games without location, Georgetown is 7-1 at home against Loyola.
  • The Blue & Gray has won the past 10 consecutive meetings between the squads.
  • The first meeting was in 1973-74 when GU won, 47-41.
