Volleyball Downs Villanova in BIG EAST Action

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team avenged an earlier season loss by defeating visiting Villanova 3-2 (25-20, 19-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11) in a midweek BIG EAST showdown on Wednesday evening. The Hoyas improve to 6-18 overall and 2-11 in BIG EAST action while the Wildcats fall to 14-11 overall and 6-7 in league play.

"We showed some real grit tonight to get out of that match with a win," Head Coach David Heller said. "Credit to Villanova for firing back after set one. Our serving pressure put our defense in some good situations tonight too. Emma really stepped up her play at the net and her floor defense to help lead us to that win. Makayla had a really strong night blocking as well. MG turned things on in the fifth set to provide us some much-needed offense on the pins. It really was a strong team win tonight with lots of contributions from the team. Abby came in set five and had a great serving run to put some distance between us and Villanova. I'm really proud of the work they put in tonight and our will to win is starting to show."
