Three Hoyas Earn All-America Honors

WASHINGTON – Three members of the Georgetown University men's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches All-America honors on Wednesday afternoon.  Named to the first team was senior Sean Zawadzki, while junior Dante Polvara was selected to the second team. Additionally, junior Will Sands earned a spot on the third team. This is the third-consecutive season that that the Blue & Gray has boasted three All-Americans in one year. In 2019, three honorees marked a program first for the Blue & Gray.

  • Zawadzki's nod to the first team marks the first All-America honor of his career
  • Earlier this week, Zawadzki was named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist.
  • He was a First Team All-East Region honoree from the United Soccer Coaches.
  • Zawadzki was the 2021 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
  • He has started all 21 games for the Blue & Gray and has one goal with four assists on the season for six points.
  • The two-year team captain was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week twice this year.
Dante Polvara

  • Polvara was a First Team All-American a season ago making him one of just six players to have been recognized previously.
  • Georgetown has had just four players earn multiple All-America honors in their careers.
  • Earlier this week, Polvara was named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist marking his second time being named to the list after earning the distinction a season ago.
  • He was a First Team All-East Region honoree from the United Soccer Coaches.
  • Polvara was the 2021 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year as well as a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
  • He has started all 21 games for the Blue & Gray and currently leads the team in scoring with seven goals and six assists for 20 points.
  • Three of his goals were game winners this season.
  • The team captain was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week twice this year as well as earning a nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor roll this season.
  • He was a member of the organization's preseason watch list.
  • Polvara is one of just three juniors to make the list.

  • Sands' nod to the third team marks the first All-America honor of his career.
  • The defender was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
  • He was a First Team All-East Region honoree from the United Soccer Coaches.
  • He was twice named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week (10/25 & 10/11).
  • Sands also earned two nods to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week on 10/25 and 12/3.
  • He has appeared in all 21 games for the Blue & Gray with 20 starts to his credit.
  • Sands has three goals and as many assists for nine points on the season.
  • The junior has two game winners for the year.
