WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's soccer's Giannis Nikopolidis was named the Division I College Player of the Week by the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday. The No. 2/2 Hoyas (5-0-2, 5-0-2 BIG EAST) used a big second-half push to defeat the Providence College Friars on Saturday.

• Named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week.
• Nikopolidis made eight saves for the Hoyas to preserve a 3-0 win over Providence with five of his saves coming in the first half while the score was still knotted at 0.
• The junior has only allowed two goals in five games for a 0.42 seasonal goals-against average and made 20 saves.
• The Providence win was his third shutout of the season.
• His 16 career shutouts rank him fifth on Georgetown's all-time list.
• This is Nikopolidis' first national player of the week honor and the first for the Hoyas this season.
• The BIG EAST honor was his first award of the season after being named to the honor roll on March 15, and it is the fourth of his career.
• Georgetown has earned four BIG EAST weekly awards so far this season.
