HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a scoreless game over the first handful of innings as each team threatened, but couldn't score. The Hoyas put runners on in three of the first four innings.
- Georgetown's offense broke through in the top of the fifth inning as a walk and single put runners on the corners with one out. McCabe broke for second, and the pitcher's throw sailed into centerfield, allowing Adam Dapkewicz to score from third.
- Seton Hall answered in the bottom half of the inning, sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs off of two GU pitchers to take a 7-1 lead.
- A solo home run for the Pirates in the seventh made it 8-1.
- The Hoyas got a run back in the eighth as three walks loaded the bases with one out before Ciufo beat out an infield single that allowed AJ Lotsis to score and make it an 8-2 game.
- In the ninth, the first two batters walked before McCabe delivered an RBI single. Lotsis followed with an RBI groundout to make it 8-4, before Patrick DeSalvo drove in another run with an infield single.
- With two outs and two runners in scoring position, Ciufo lined a two-run single to make in an 8-7 game. He stole second but a strikeout ended the game as the rally fell just short.
