WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team dropped a pair of BIG EAST Conference games on Saturday, falling by scores of 2-0 and 8-4 at Seton Hall. With the losses, GU slips to 4-12 on the season and 4-9 in conference play, while the Pirates move to 18-15 overall and 11-3 in league action.
Game 1: Seton Hall 2, Georgetown 0 (7 innings)
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Carter Bosch started on the mound and went 4.0-plus innings, allowing just one run on four hits. He struck out three and walked four.
- Jacob Grzebinski and Jae Gnazzo combined to allow just one run in 2.0 innings of relief.
- Patrick DeSalvo and Jake Hyde had the only hits for the Hoyas
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Seton Hall scored single runs in the second and sixth innings for the only runs of the game.
- The Hoyas did not have a hit until the sixth inning when DeSalvo reached on a single.
- In the seventh inning, Hyde doubled and Yareb Martinez walked to put the tying runs on base with nobody out. Both runners advanced on a bunt by Christian Ficca, but a popup and ground out ended the game.
Game 2: Seton Hall 8, Georgetown 4
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Jack Weeks made the start and went 3.1 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits.
- Chase Walter allowed just one run in 3.0 innings of relief, striking out two.
- AJ Lotsis was on base four times and scored two runs.
- Martinez also reached safely with a hit and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was the Hoyas turn to strike first as they scored two runs in the top of the first inning. A hit-by-pitch and error put two runners in scoring position before Martinez drove in a run with a single and Andrew Ciufo gave GU a 2-0 advantage with a sacrifice fly.
- The Pirates answered in the fourth with three runs to take a 3-2 lead. They tacked on another run in the sixth.
- Georgetown got a run back in the eighth without the benefit of a hit as two walks and two wild pitches allowed Martinez to cross the plate to make it 4-3.
- Seton Hall gained some insurance with a four-run eighth inning to make it 8-3.
- Lotsis was hit by a pitch to lead off the ninth and scored on an Eddie McCabe double to provide the final score.

- The two teams will conclude their four-game series on Sunday at noon.
