WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team wrapped up a five-game series at Xavier on Sunday, dropping a pair of games by scores of 10-0 and 2-1. The second contest was a nonconference matchup that did not count toward the BIG EAST standings. With the losses, the Hoyas fall to 5-21 on the season and 5-16 in conference play, while the Musketeers fall to 23-22 overall and 13-9 in league action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Xavier opened the scoring with a two-out, two-run single in the first inning.
- A solo home run in the third made it 3-0 before the Musketeers pulled away with a five-run fifth.
- Single runs in the sixth and seventh innings ended the game via the 10-run mercy rule.
Game 2: Xavier 2, Georgetown 1 (8 innings)

- Jack Weeks started and went 5.0 shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas got on the board first in the second inning as Jake Hyde led off with a double and scored on a Calvin Rucker RBI single to give GU a 1-0 lead.
- The score remained the same until the sixth inning when Xavier knotted things up with a run on a hit and three walks off of two Georgetown relievers.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Anthony Redfern struck out two and, with two runners on, Everett Catlett came on to get the inning-ending ground out to send the game into extras.
- Xavier loaded the bases with nobody out in the eighth inning before lifting a one-out sacrifice fly to score the winning run.
