WASHINGTON – Georgetown University sophomore midfielder
Dante Polvara was one of 15 men's soccer student-athletes that were selected on Tuesday as semifinalists for Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy, the country's top college soccer honor.

- Polvara was the 2020 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year as well as a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
- He has started all 12 games for the Blue & Gray and currently leads the team in scoring with seven goals and two assists for 16 points.
- Two of his goals were game winners against Seton Hall and at St. John's.
- His seven goals ranks him 16th in the nation as well as tying him for the lead in the BIG EAST.
- Polvara's total scoring ranks him 30th in the country.
- He was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on 3/1 and also earned two nods to the weekly honor roll this season.
- This is his first MAC honor, he was not on the organization's preseason watch list.
- It marks Georgetown's second-consecutive season with a MAC Hermann Semifinalist.
- Polvara is one of just two honorees from the BIG EAST Conference as forward Lukas Sunesson from Marquette earned a spot as well.
- He is one of just five sophomores to make the list.
Georgetown and the MAC Hermann Trophy
- Polvara is the sixth semifinalist in program history.
- Dylan Nealis made the list in 2019, Brandon Allen earned the honor in 2015, Joshua Yaro was named in 2014 and Steve Neumann is GU's lone two-time honoree in both 2012 and 2013.
- Nealis and Allen both moved on to be named a top three finalist.
About the MAC Hermann Trophy
- The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's award was pushed back to accommodate the seasons affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Winners will be announced May 27 at the 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy Press Conference and Banquet taking place at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Missouri.
