Carter Bosch struck out a career-high 10 batters, but the Georgetown University baseball team lost a 4-0 decision to Villanova in a BIG EAST Conference contest on Saturday afternoon. With the setback, GU slips to 4-16 on the season and 4-12 in BIG EAST play, while the Wildcats improve to 17-12 overall and 5-9 in conference action.
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Bosch finished with 10 strikeouts in 7.0 innings on the mound, while allowing two runs on just two hits.
- Eddie McCabe had a pair of hits and AJ Lotsis was on base twice with a single and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Villanova opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
- Bosch settled in after that, allowing just two base runners over the next six innings, retiring 11-straight batters at one point. He had at least one strikeout in each of his seven innings of work.
- The Wildcats added a pair of runs, one earned, in the eighth to make it a 4-0 game.
- The Hoyas put two runners on in the ninth, but could not mount the comeback.
