WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team dropped the final match of the Dig the District Invitational with a 3-1 (32-34, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20) loss to visiting Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas fall to 4-4 on the season and have one more weekend of nonconference competition before starting BIG EAST play.

How it Happened
- A back-and-forth opening set turned into a marathon frame as the 34-32 score was the highest ever in the 25-point rally scoring era for the Blue & Gray.
- Loyola came back from a 24-21 deficit to lead 25-24, but Georgetown held off a pair of set points to hold the Greyhounds at bay for the win.
- Taking advantage of steady hitting, Loyola won the next three sets by hitting over .200 in each frame.
- Keeping things competitive in each set, the Hoyas put together a late rally but couldn't complete the comeback from down 23-15 in the second.
- Battling in the third, an 8-8 tie turned to Loyola's favor but the visitors couldn't put the stanza away until a 4-0 run closed out the frame after leading 21-20.
- In the fourth, another back-and-forth set saw the Hoyas rally back from 19-15 down to tie it up at 19-19, but the Greyhounds dug in and scored six of the last seven points to seal the match.
Loyola Maryland Notes
- Abby Hamilton led the Greyhounds with 19 kills and added 12 digs for a double-double.
- Megan Bukala had a double-double as well with 12 kills and 19 digs, as did Kacy Sekunda with 50 assists and 11 digs.
- Katie Forsythe led all players with 26 digs.
Side Out
The Hoyas return to action on Friday, September 17 at 10 a.m. as they face Fairleigh-Dickinson to open the Jefferson Cup, hosted by Virginia in Charlottesville.
