WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's and women's swimming & diving teams split with the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays at McCarthy Pool on Friday. The women's squad moved to 3-3 on the season with a 153-140 victory while the men fell to 5-1 with a 170-124 setback.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- GU won 12 events, placed second in 17 and added 20 third-place times on the day.
- Women's Erin Hood captured three first-place finishes on the day, earning top times in the 100 breast (1:05.79), 200 breast (2:19.94) and 200 IM (2:05.15).
- The Hoyas opened the meet with three-straight first-place marks as the men's and women's 200 medley relay teams and Corey Moon (1,000 free) beat out the competition.
- Grace Chen and Kylie Stronko went 1-2 in the 100 back after Matthew Braviak and Brett Sherman secured third in the 1,000 free and 200 free, respectively.
- Drew Carbone captured first in the 100 back, finishing four seconds ahead of the competition with a time of 50.84 while Liam Ryan finished in third.
- In the 100 back, Carson Temple and Ansen Meyer went 2-3 before Genevieve Youngman and Michael Wheeler earned second and third in the 200 fly, respectively.
- Lily Gremmels picked up a second-place finish in the 50 free while men's Sean Devlin scored a third-place mark in the same event.
- Women's 1m divers Emilie Ginovker, Wynter Bramao and Sara Warm swept the podium, with Warm posting a season-best 210.15. The trio also podiumed the 3m dive with Bramao earning the top spot, followed by Warm and Ginokver.
- Men's 1m divers Kyle Maziarz, Joseph Hofman and Charlie Reichle also successfully swept the top three spots in their event.
- Men's Jack Muratori and Sean Percin went 2-3 in the 100 free before Stronko placed second in the 200 back and the duo of Carbone and Ryan secured the last two podium spots in the same event.
- After women's Hood and Emily Giesler finished 1-3 in the 200 back, Temple (200 breast), Wheeler (500 free) and Moon (500 free) each earned second-place marks while Ryan Evangelista placed third (500 free).
- Youngman edged out a win in the 100 fly while teammate Gabriella Meringolo earned the final podium spot.
- Following a second-place finish from Baldini (100 fly) and a 2-3 punch from Jack Brearton and Carbone (200 IM), the men's and women's 200 free relay teams finished the meet with second-best times.
ON DECK
GU will return to McCarthy Pool tomorrow afternoon against George Washington, beginning at 1 p.m. The Hoyas wrap up the regular season at home with Senior Day against conference foe Seton Hall on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m., before heading to the BIG EAST Championships in New York (Feb. 23-26).

All remaining Georgetown men's and women's swimming & diving home meets are currently scheduled to take place at McCarthy Pool. All Georgetown University indoor on-campus intercollegiate athletics events will be completed with no fans in attendance for the month of January due to the emergence and rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the Washington, D.C., region, across the country, and globally.
