Hoyas to Visit Butler on Saturday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team (6-11, 0-6 BIG EAST) will remain on the road to face the Butler University Bulldogs (10-10, 3-6 BIG EAST) on Saturday, January 29. Tipoff from Hinkle Fieldhouse is scheduled for noon.
 
FOLLOW THE HOYAS
  • Saturday's game will be broadcast live on FS1 with Matt Schumacher calling the play-by-play and Dickey Simpkins providing analysis.
  • The game can be heard locally on 106.7 The Fan, SiriusXM 383 and Radio.com with Rich Chvotkin in his 48th season on the call.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Aminu Mohammed led a trio of Hoyas in double figures against No. 20 UConn with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including a 3-for-4 performance from beyond the arc, a career best for the frosh. His seven rebounds were a squad best.
  • Collin Holloway added 11 points to go along with four boards and a pair of steals while Donald Carey chipped in 10 to round out those in double figures. Carey added a pair of assists in his 31 minutes of work.
  • For the game, Georgetown shot 45.0 percent (27-60) from the field and 52.4 percent (11-21) from deep.
  • Georgetown managed six steals to UConn's five, but the Huskies forced 11 turnovers to GU's seven.
  • The Blue & Gray has five players averaging in double figures with Mohammed (13.7 ppg), Kaiden Rice (13.1 ppg), Carey (13.1 ppg), Dante Harris (12.5 ppg) and Holloway (10.1 ppg).
  • As a team, GU paces the BE shooting 38.6 percent from distance while its 8.5 triples/game rank third.
  • Mohammed has recorded six double-doubles (T-1st - BE, 5th - NCAA freshman) and 8.1 rpg (7th - NCAA freshmen).
  • Rice is averaging 3.8 treys/game to lead the BE (5th - NCAA).
  • Carey is 35-for-37 from the charity stripe for a 94.6 percent efficiency (1st - BE, 2nd - NCAA).
  • In BE play, the Hoya captain is averaging 14.0 ppg, followed by Holloway with 12.3, Harris and Mohammed at 12.0 and Rice with 10.7.
 
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
  • Butler snapped a four-game losing streak with its 72-55 win against Creighton on Wednesday.
  • Chuck Harris paces the Bulldog offense with 11.0 ppg while Bryce Golden adds 9.4 ppg on 56.4 percent shooting from the floor (75-133).
  • As a team, Butler has the third-best 3-point defense in the BE, holding the opposition to 31.7 percent shooting from deep.
 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Saturday will be the 20th all-time meeting between Georgetown and Butler with the Hoyas holding a slight edge overall, 10-9.
  • The Bulldogs bested the Hoyas in its lone meeting this season with a 72-58 win (1/13/22).
  • GU has split its last four meetings against Butler, including a 78-63 win at McDonough Arena on Feb. 13, 2021. Jahvon Blair and Chudier Bile led five Hoyas in double figures with 17 apiece while Jamorko Pickett added 13 and Carey scored 10 of his own. GU outrebounded (38-20) and was more efficient from the floor (52.2%-39.0%) against Butler.
  • Head Coach Patrick Ewing holds a 4-5 record against Lavall Jordan and the Bulldogs since both coaches took over in 2017.
