WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought five-set marathon 3-2 (26-24, 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 16-14) on the road at Providence on Friday night. The Hoyas fall to 4-14 overall and 2-5 in league play while the Friars improve to 10-9 overall and 2-5 in BIG EAST action.
"Tough one tonight on the road," Head Coach
David Heller said. "We had some really good pieces at times. Karis was a rock star in the back row today with 34 digs and was super active on defense. She was aggressive from the service line too. We are really proud of what she did tonight. Mary Grace had another solid match and contributed from the back row leading us with 16 kills. Brennan patrolled the net tonight and had a breakout performance with 12 kills and 9 blocks. So many of our athletes were at or so close to double-doubles tonight. We are making great defensive strides but just need to execute on the offensive side a bit more. Seventeen team blocks is the most since I've been here at Georgetown. I'm really proud of the fight we continue to show and have stronger road performances than seasons past. We are looking forward to another battle tomorrow with UConn!"
