The Georgetown Sailing Team continued its impressive start to the season with two more solid finished last weekend
On the Record - Head Coach Mike Callahan
- "The Atlantic Coast Round 1 is sort of a survive and advance event. Winning would be great, but you can't help but sail more conservatively to ensure a top-nine finish. Now we move on to the ACC Championship against the top 18 teams in the country and I'm excited to see how we do."
Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1 - (6th of 18)
- The top nine teams from Round 1 compete for the Atlantic Coast Championship on October 22-23 at the US Coast Guard Academy.Â
- The team struggled a bit at the start of the event and at the end, but the Hoyas managed to string together some impressive finishes in the middle.Â
- At the end of the first day, the Blue & Gray were comfortably in the top nine and very close to first overall.Â
- The strong winds Saturday made way to light and very fluky winds on Sunday that saw big wind shifts and lots of strange wind patterns.Â
- The Hoyas struggled a bit to connect the wind shifts and slipped to sixth overall but were never in danger of finishing outside the top nine.
On the Record - Head Coach Mike Callahan
- Coach Mike Callahan was impressed with their performance.
- "Danny and Grace sailed a basically flawless event. They were quite good in all conditions and I'm thrilled for them that they won this event."

- The coed team also competed at the Tom Curtis Memorial Regatta at Georgetown.Â

- The Hoyas always look to win their home events and sent a strong group to the Curtis Regatta.Â
- Over the course of eight races the Hoya team of Danny Hughes and Grace Flanagan beat out Navy, Old Dominion and St. Mary's to win the event.Â
- Over eight races, the duo scored no worse than fourth and won the final two races by a wide margin.
