WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team went the distance with visiting Xavier, eventually falling 3-2 (28-30, 25-16, 22-25, 25-13, 15-11) in BIG EAST action on Friday night. The Hoyas fall to 4-16 overall and 2-7 in league play while the Musketeers improve to 12-7 overall and 5-4 in BIG EAST play.
Hoya Highlights
- Giselle Williams led the Hoyas with 21 kills to tie a match-high while Brennan Wilhite added 16 kills and hit an impressive .577 clip. Mary Grace Goyena chipped in nine kills, Chanelle Smith had eight and both Emma Plutnicki and Minnie Purcell had four.
- Plutnicki posted a double-double with 46 assists to go with 14 digs.
- Defensively, Karis Park hauled in a team-high 20 digs while Goyena added 12.
- At the net, Smith was credited with five blocks while Plutnicki, Purcell, Wilhite and Williams each had three – including a pair of solo rejections from Williams.
Xavier Notes
- Four Musketeers had double-digit kills, led by Brooklyn Cink with 21. MaryAnn O'Toole had 18 and both Hunter Fry and Anna Taylor added 10 each.
- Carrigan O'Reilly posted a double-double with 58 assists and 17 digs while adding nine kills.
- Lucia Corsaro led all players with 22 digs, Alyssa Overbeck added 13 and Cink notched a double-double with 12.
- At the net, Delaney Hogan was credited with five blocks.
