About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (3-4-2, 1-1-0 BIG EAST) used a late goal to down the Bowling Green State University Falcons 1-0 in GU's final nonconference match of the season on Saturday afternoon at Shaw Field.
  • Following a substitution, Georgetown managed to gain control on a long ball by senior Daniel Wu. Junior Kyle Linhares saw the opportunity for a quick throw and got it to freshman Jacob Murrell who left it for Tabora at the top of the box. His shot was saved, but the rebound went to freshman Jack Panayotou who sent it back in to put the Hoyas on top 1-0 with six minutes remaining.
  • Georgetown outshot Bowling Green 13-9, and the Hoyas had four on goal while the Falcons managed three. GU was awarded two corner kicks to BGSU's three in the game.
  • Hoya junior Ryan Schewe took the win in the net and tallied the Blue & Gray's three saves in the match.
  • For his efforts, Schewe was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday when the BIG EAST Conference announced its weekly awards.
  • It was Schewe's first weekly honor of his career and the second-consecutive honor roll nod for the Blue & Gray.
  • A pair of freshmen lead the way for the Blue & Gray as Murrell and Panayotou both have eight points on the season with three goals and two assists apiece.
About the Bulldogs
  • Butler is 6-2-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in BIG EAST play.
  • Most recently, the Bulldogs defeated Marquette by a score of 3-1 on Friday evening.
  • Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. In Butler's 3-1 win over Marquette, he notched the opening goal and then assisted on the two additional goals.
  • Palmer Ault leads the team with 18 points on eight goals and two assists, while Cabrera, Jr. is second on the squad with 11 points off of four goals and three assists.
Series Info
  • The Hoyas are 7-1-1 all-time against the Bulldogs and 3-1 on the road.
  • The last meeting was a 1-0 Hoya victory at home last season as Dante Polvara scored in the 59th minute to secure the victory.
  • The last time the Blue & Gray traveled to Indianapolis, GU picked up the 3-0 victory during the 2019 campaign.
