No. 17/21 Georgetown Faces UConn in Regular Season Finale

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's soccer team will close out the regular season schedule against the University of Connecticut on Wednesday evening as the No. 17/21 Hoyas and Huskies will meet at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (9-4-3, 7-1-1 BIG EAST) blanked the Marquette Golden Eagles 1-0 in a BIG EAST Conference matchup last Saturday afternoon at Shaw Field in the home finale.
  • With the win, Georgetown clinched the top seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Championship as well as outright the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship.
  • On Monday, junior Ryan Schewe and sophomore midfielder Blaine Mabie were both named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
  • Schewe posted a shutout victory in net for the Hoyas, as No. 24/21 Georgetown locked up the outright BIG EAST regular season title on Saturday. Overall, he made three saves in the 1-0 win over Marquette.
  • In eight conference games, Schewe leads the BIG EAST with a 0.838 save percentage, ranks third in saves per game (4.43) and sits in second in goals-against average (0.86).
  • Overall, he has a 0.63 GAA in nine games played and a 0.867 save percentage ranking him third in the nation.
  • Mabie tallied the match-winning goal early in the first half against Marquette.
  • Junior Marlon Tabora currently leads the team in scoring with five goals and six assists for 16 points on the season. He is followed by a pair of freshmen as Jacob Murrell boasts 14 points (5G, 4A) and Jack Panayotou has 11 points on the season with four goals and three assists.
About the Huskies
  • The Huskies are 7-6-3 on the season and 3-3-3 in the BIG EAST Conference.
  • UConn is coming off of a scoreless tie at St. John's on Saturday. It was the sixth match in an unbeaten streak for the Huskies.
  • The last loss came in a 1-0 defeat on October 8 against Seton Hall at home.
  • UConn enters the final day of the regular season sitting in sixth place with 12 points.
Series Info
  • The Hoyas are 13-14-4 all-time against the Huskies and 1-10-3 on the road in Connecticut.
  • The teams have not met in Storrs since the 2017 season in what was then a nonconference matchup. The squads played to a 1-1 draw in that game.
  • Last year, the Hoyas downed UConn at home 1-0 during the regular season. Ronan Dillow scored the game winner in the 41st minute to give the Hoyas the BIG EAST regular season championship.
