Hoyas Host Cal State Fullerton on Friday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will return home and host the Cal State Fullerton Titans in a nonconference matchup at McDonough Arena on Friday evening. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

  • Fans that bring any toy (preferably a teddy bear) get a free ticket to the game. All toys will be donated to Toys for Tots for the holidays.
About the Hoyas
  • The Hoyas (2-1) downed the Coppin State University Eagles 50-35 on Wednesday morning at the Physical Education Complex in Baltimore.
  • Graduate student Kristina Moore led the way with 14 points and a team-best six rebounds in the game.
  • Seniors Jada Claude and Graceann Bennett also scored in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
  • Junior Kelsey Ransom was active, scoring six points to go along with six assists and three steals for the Blue & Gray.
  • The Hoyas shot 37.0% (20-54) from the field and allowed 23.0% (14-61) shooting by the Eagles.
  • Georgetown was outrebounded by Coppin State 42-39, and the GU defense forced 19 Eagle turnovers.
  • Last week, GU also announced the signing of Mayla Ham to a National Letter of Intent, she was the first for the incoming class.
  • Georgetown was picked in a tie with Butler to finish ninth with 21 points in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll as voted on by the league's head coaches.
  • Georgetown will play all but one of its conference home games at McDonough Arena. Last week, it was announced that GU will partner with ENGIE and Events DC to host the February 11 game against UConn at the Entertainment & Sports Arena.
About the Titans
  • Cal State Fullerton is 1-1 on the season with the lone victory coming over San Jose State, 71-63, on Sunday.
  • The Titans fell to Santa Clara 76-72 in overtime to open the season.
  • The squad is starting the season on a four-game road swing. Following Friday's matchup, CSF will play George Washington on Sunday.
  • CSF is led by Fujika Nimmo who is one of three Titans averaging in double figures. She leads the way with 22.5 ppg.

  • The Hoyas are 1-1 all-time against the Titans, this will be the first meeting at home.
  • The last meeting was a 53-51 victory at the Cal Classic in Berkeley, California during the 2012-13 season.
The teams also met in 1991-92 when GU fell 72-56 at the Titan Gatorade Classic in San Diego.
