Georgetown Travels to St. John’s on Friday Evening

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will travel to New York to face the St. John's University Red Storm Friday evening at Carnesecca Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (7-13, 2-10 BIG EAST) is coming off of a 60-50 loss to Seton Hall Wednesday evening.  
  • Senior Jillian Archer recorded her second career double-double on the Hilltop, finishing with 11 points and a season-high 16 rebounds.
  • Sophomore Kelsey Ransom added a balanced 12 points, six rebounds and three assists, finishing 6-9 from the charity stripe on the night.
  • The Hoyas put together a solid defensive effort, outrebounding the Pirates 45-39, forcing 13 Seton Hall turnovers, and holding them to just 33.9 percent shooting from the floor.
  • Georgetown boasts two players in double figures for the season as graduate student Milan Bolden-Morris leads the way with 13.1 ppg. Ransom has 12.2 ppg, while Archer and junior Graceann Bennett round out the top four averaging 8.9 and 7.6 ppg, respectively.
  • Archer is also pulling down a squad-best 7.4 rpg.
  • The game will be GU's third contest this week and the third-of-four in an eight-day span.
About the Red Storm
  • St. John's is 9-15 on the season and 5-9 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • The Red Storm has won their last two contests and three of their last four.
  • Most recently, the squad defeated Butler 73-61 at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.
  • Leilani Correa led the Johnnies posting 21 points, while Rayven Peeples tallied her fourth double-double this year with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  
  • Correa leads the team averaging 18.5 ppg, which is also second in the BIG EAST Conference.
  • Kadaja Bailey is second with 15.0 ppg to round out those in double figures.
  • Peeples is tied for third on the team in scoring with 9.8 ppg and pulling down a squad-high 9.6 rpg.
Series History
  • The Hoyas are 30-39 all-time against the Red Storm and 12-20 on the road.
  • The last meeting was an 80-52 setback at McDonough Arena earlier this season.
  • In that game, Bolden-Morris led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds.
  • The last meeting in New York was a 62-58 victory for the Blue & Gray a season ago.
  • Ransom led the Hoyas in the victory with 12 points, five rebounds and seven steals.
