WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.– The Georgetown University baseball team dropped its season opener to Rider, 6-4, at David F. Couch Ballpark on Friday. The Hoyas fall to 0-1 on the season while Rider jumps to 1-0.
"I was proud of our fight after being down 4-1 and coming back to tie the game late. Unfortunately, we didn't do enough early in the game offensively to score. I thought we played good enough defense to have a chance at the end and had the tying run at the plate. [Rider is] an NCAA Tournament team, a veteran team and I think it was great experience for us in that type of tight game. Hopefully, tomorrow we'll come out and get that execution we needed." - Head Coach
