Georgetown Closes the Regular Season at Xavier and Butler

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will close out the regular season with a two-game road trip this weekend. The Hoyas will face the Xavier University Musketeers on Friday at 7 p.m. at Cintas Center before battling the Butler University Bulldogs on Sunday at 2 p.m. at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (7-18, 2-15 BIG EAST) is coming off of a tough 73-61 loss to the Villanova University Wildcats on Tuesday evening in the home finale at McDonough Arena.  
  • The Hoyas led in the first half, but could not stop a big third-quarter run by the Wildcats.
  • Senior Jillian Archer led the way with 18 points, while graduate student Mary Clougherty added 11.
  • Graduate student Milan Bolden-Morris added five points and team bests with six rebounds as well as three steals.
  • The Hoyas shot 37.7% (20-53) from the field and allowed 37.9% (22-58) shooting by the Wildcats.
  • Georgetown was outrebounded by Villanova 41-33, and the GU defense forced 19 'Cat turnovers.
  • The contest was a makeup game from a game that was originally scheduled for January 9 and was postponed due to COVID.
  • The Hoyas have two players averaging in double figures for the season as Bolden-Morris and sophomore Kelsey Ransom both have 12.3 ppg, respectively. Archer and junior Graceann Bennett round out the top four averaging 8.7 and 7.1 ppg, respectively.
  • Archer is also pulling down a squad-best 6.9 rpg.
About the Musketeers
  • Xavier is 9-17 on the season and 4-13 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • The Musketeers are coming off of a 73-54 win over Butler on Sunday at Hinkle.
  • Friday will kick off a three-game homestand for XU to close out the regular season.
  • Leading the way for Xavier is Nia Clark with 11.7 ppg, she is followed by Kae Satterfield who is averaging 11.0 ppg to go along with a squad-best 7.2 rpg.

  • Leading the way for Butler is Celena Taborn who is averaging 13.3 ppg as the lone Bulldog in double figures.
  • Taborn and Tenley Dowell are pulling down 5.5 and 5.0 rpg, respectively.
  • The Bulldogs will face Villanova in a matchup on Friday evening at home.
