WASHINGTON – Georgetown softball fell to UConn on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the three-day series (4-0). Georgetown went 1-2 on the weekend with its sole win on Saturday, 7-5, on a walk-off homer by
Alyssa Chavez. The Hoyas fall to 2-2 in the BIG EAST as the Huskies rise to 5-1.
The Huskies' Rosie Garcia hit home runs in the second and fourth (2-0). In the fifth, UConn had a series of hits leading to two runners crossing the plate (4-0). In the bottom of the seventh, Georgetown had bases loaded with two outs, but the Blue & Gray were unable to make contact with the ball and the game ended in a Husky win, 4-0.
Chavez now has a .380 batting average, going 27-for-71 at the dish with 21 RBI's and 14 runs scored.
Mae Forshey has a .333 average after going 28-for-84 from the plate.
Abbey Schiller has seven hits going 7-for-18 with a batting average of .389.
