ROCKVILLE, Md. –
Carter Bosch and
Anthony Redfern shut down the VMI lineup with a combined 10 strikeouts in the Georgetown University baseball team's 6-2 win over the Keydets on Friday evening. The Hoyas moved to 13-8 on the year while VMI dropped to 8-13.
"Tonight was fun to see Bosch go out there on a Friday and dominate a really good team. He worked through some very difficult situations behind him and I'm very proud of him. I also can't say enough about Redfern after coming into that first and second, no-outs situation and coming out with no runs. He stopped any and all momentum they had. Additionally,
Christian Ficca had a big home run and
Jake Hyde continued to stay hot." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson on today's game

HOW IT HAPPENED

- VMI scored one run in the top of the second, crossing on a wild pitch and slashing the lead in half (2-1)
- Georgetown unloaded four runs in the bottom of the second behind a two-run double from Hyde, an RBI single by Ficca and Ciufo drawing a bases-loaded walk (6-1).
- Bosch worked himself out of trouble, stranding a runner on third and registered a pair of strikeouts in the fourth.
- The Keydets scored again in the top of the fifth on an RBI single (6-2) before Bosch struck out the final batter to halt the VMI threat.
- The visiting team continued to threaten GU's four-run lead, putting runners on first and second with no outs before Anthony Redfern came on. The righty forced a 6-4-3 double play before Ciufo snared a hard grounder to his right and threw a dart from the shortstop hole to end the inning.
