ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Georgetown University baseball team completed a three-game sweep of nonconference foe Virginia Military Institute with its 9-5 and 9-7 wins in Saturday's doubleheader at Shirley Povich Field. The Hoyas jump to 15-8 on the year while the Keydets dropped to 8-15
"An unbelievable effort from our guys today. I'm so proud of them after competing in a long day of baseball and finding a way to win. We had some great moments from
Evan Blum,
Andrew Ciufo and
Jake Hyde providing offense. Both games were gutsy wins for us and I thought our bullpen was outstanding. Guys like
Matthew Sapienza,
Michael Willis,
Nick Borek,
Kyle Salley and
Angelo Tonas held down the fort in getting us these wins. It's another great series win, first sweep of the year and we are looking forward to the Battle of D.C. on Tuesday. " - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson on today's doubleheader sweep
