Georgetown Comeback Falls Short at Towson

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team put together a late run, but the comeback fell short as the Hoyas dropped an 11-7 decision to the Towson Tigers Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field in a nonconference matchup in Towson, Maryland. With the loss, the Hoyas move to 5-5 on the season, while Towson improves to 3-5.

How it Happened
  • It was a game of runs as Towson opened the contest with three-straight goals.
  • The Blue & Gray answered with a trio of goals, starting out with a score from graduate student Erin Bakes followed by goals from freshman Maley Starr and sophomore Kylie Hazen.
  • Towson ended the first quarter with one more to make it 4-3 at the end of the period.
  • The Tigers managed two quick goals in the first minute of action in the second quarter, but freshman Emma Gebhardt scored her first of the game at the 8:37 mark.
  • Towson added two more late to give the Tigers the 8-4 advantage at the half.
  • Senior Annabelle Albert started the scoring in the third period with a goal at 9:33. However, that would be GU's lone goal of the quarter as TU added two more to build the lead to 10-5.
  • Early in the fourth, Gebhardt took the pass from Hazen and buried it in the back of the cage followed by a goal from Albert to cut it to three.
  • The Hoyas had the momentum as they searched for the comeback, but a Towson goal at 7:30 stopped the run making the final 11-7.
Of Note
  • Albert and Gebardt led the way both with a pair of goals on the day.
  • Hazen managed a goal and an assist.
