Hoyas Fall to No. 8 Maryland

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team fell 15-3 to the No. 8 Maryland Terrapins at Cooper Field on Wednesday night. With the loss the Hoyas fall to 5-6, while the Terrapins improve to 9-1.

How it Happened

  • Maryland opened the game on a 5-0 which would ultimately remain the score at the end of the first quarter.

  • The second quarter began with a quick Terrapin goal to set the score at 6-0 until Ali Diamond got the Hoyas on the board with an unassisted goal to make it 6-1 at the 10:26 mark. The game would go scoreless for the next five minutes triggering Maryland to call its first time out with 5:03 left in the half. 

  • Maryland would end the scoring drought by scoring its second goal of the quarter at the 2:06 mark to make the score 7-1. That score would remain for the rest of the first half.  

  • After halftime, Maryland opened the second half with three quick goals to make the score 10-1 at the 12:33 mark. The third quarter would end with the score at 13-1 in favor of the Terrapins. 

  • Georgetown would score first in the fourth quarter by way of a Kylie Hazen unassisted goal. The Hoyas would score again at the 5:45 mark when Neely Holt put a free-position attempt in the back of the net.  Holt's goal would put the score at 13-3 until Maryland would record its first goal of the quarter. Maryland would go on to score again to set the score at 15-3, which would remain until the final buzzer.
