No. 3 Hoyas Edged by No. 18 Princeton

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's third-ranked men's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season with a 10-8 setback against visiting No. 18 Princeton on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas fall to 4-1 on the season while the Tigers improve to 3-1.

  • Alex Slusher scored five goals while Sam English added three for the Tigers.
  • Jake Stevens and Luke Crimmins each added one.
  • Ben Finlay and Andrew Song were both credited with four caused turnovers on the day.
  • Erik Peters had 16 saves in the win.
How it Happened
  • Georgetown jumped on the board first before Princeton responded with three unanswered goals to make it 3-1.
  • The Hoyas answered back with back-to-back goals from Trippi to knot things up at 3-3 but the Tigers responded with two of their own to make it 5-3.
  • Trippi completed his first half hat trick to close out the scoring at cut GU's deficit to one going into halftime.
  • Princeton scored twice coming out of the break and held off Georgetown's offense before Watson scored both his goals in the final minute of the third, 34 seconds apart, to make it a 7-6 Princeton lead.
  • Trading goals to start the fourth, Princeton held the Hoyas off down the stretch en route to the win.
