CAYCE, S.C. – The Georgetown University women's tennis team fell to #3 Xavier Friday evening in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship Presented by Jeep in Cayce, South Carolina. The #6 Hoyas finish the season with a 9-13 record and five conference wins, including the first round match against Providence.
How It Happened
- Georgetown dropped the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to the Musketeers, giving Xavier its first point of the match.
- Xavier's No. 2 and No. 3 singles played with serious intent and took down the Hoyas in two sets each, only letting the Hoyas win one game in the four sets.
- Avantika Willy finished shortly after with a win at the No. 1 spot, giving Georgetown its first point of the match. The Hoyas trailed 3-1.
- The Musketeers clinched the match as their No. 5 defeated Carmen Aizpurua.
