WALDORF, Md. – Despite snapping the 2010 team's single-season record (54) for home runs in a season with its 55th of the season, the Georgetown University baseball team fell to Villanova 5-3 on Sunday at Regency Furniture Stadium. Georgetown fell to 18-10 overall with a 2-1 record in conference play while the Wildcats jumped to 8-15-1 with a 1-2 BE mark.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Lopez delivered the team's record-breaking 55th homer of the season, finishing 2-for-4 on the day while driving in all three Hoya runs for the second-straight day. The Hoya designated hitter also registered his eighth dinger of the year.
- Andrew Ciufo and Ethan Stern tallied a hit against the Wildcats on Sunday while Jake Hyde and Adam Dapkewicz scored once.
- Sapienza dominated out of the bullpen, tossing 6.2 innings of work and allowing just one earned run on four hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Villanova jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening frame.
- After a trio of scoreless frames, the Hoyas broke through in the fifth when Lopez smacked the first pitch he saw deep to left center for a two-run shot, slashing the lead to one (3-2).
- The Wildcats tacked on one run in the top of the sixth to go back up by two (4-2).
- Georgetown threatened in the seventh, loading the bases with one out but Villanova staved off the threat.
- Nova scored once more in the top of the ninth to take a three-run edge (5-2).
- Georgetown battled back in the ninth, working four walks and scoring a run (5-3) before Villanova held on for the final out of the game.
UP NEXT - SCHEDULE CHANGE
Georgetown has rescheduled their game with Maryland Eastern Shore to Tuesday, April 5 due to poor weather expected in the area on Wednesday. First pitch from Shirley Povich Field is slated for 3 p.m.
