OMAHA, Neb. - The Georgetown University baseball team fell 8-5 in its series opener at Creighton on Friday evening. GU fell to 19-11 overall and 2-2 in BIG EAST play while the Bluejays jumped to 16-8 while moving to 1-0 in conference action .

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Ubaldo Lopez smacked his first triple of the season, tallying a run and an RBI on the day.
- Jake Hyde went 2-for-4 with his first triple of the year to go along with two runs scored and an RBI.
- Michael Eze scored two times after walking twice on the evening.
- Christian Ficca put forth a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI.
- Andrew Ciufo and Andrew Bergeron also tallied one hit in the contest.
- Anthony Redfern allowed just one run on one hit and struck out three in three innings of work.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas took the lead in the opening frame when Hyde scored on a Bluejay fielding miscue during Ficca's single to left.
- Creighton tied the game at one in the home half of the first before scoring a pair in the second for a 3-1 lead.
- Georgetown responded in the third, knotting the game on back-to-back RBI triples from Hyde and Lopez. The Hoya left fielder scored on the following double play to take a 4-3 lead.
- After a blank fourth, the Bluejays scored one in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 7-4 edge.
- Ficca broke through in the seventh with an RBI single through the left side, slashing the Creighton edge to two (7-5).
- The Bluejays increased their lead back to three in the bottom of the eighth (8-5) before closing the door on the Hoyas in the ninth.

Georgetown will return to action in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, April 9 for a 3 p.m. ET contest against Creighton.
