WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's rowing team will race in lightweight and openweight races at the Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, in its third weekend of the spring season. The crews look to compete in six race categories throughout the weekend. The regatta begins on Saturday, April 9, with finals and petite finals being held on Sunday, April 10.
Openweights at Knecht Cup
- The Hoyas will have two varsity 8+ shells racing at the regatta, with the first varsity 8+ taking on 17 schools in the race. The second varsity 8+ will see a smaller field, with only 12 crews in the 2V8+ race.
- Georgetown's varsity 4+ looks to face 13 crews on the openweight side. The second varsity 4+ will see Delaware, Drexel, Fordham, Lafayette, MIT and West Virginia in the smaller second race.
Lightweights at Knecht Cup
- The lightweights will send a shell down river in the Novice 4+ category, competing in a field of 22 entrants.
- The Hoyas have two varsity doubles slated to race, with Hannah Weingartner/Claire Miller and Claire Noble-Shriver/Elizabeth Saunders taking on Adrian, Boston University, Gordon, Haverford, MIT, NY Maritime, Pittsburgh and Radcliffe in the women's 2x event.
